Republic Fitwell Certification
Republic has been recognised by Fitwel as the Most People Impacted Across Building Scorecards, highlighting the scale and impact of Trilogy’s health-focused placemaking. This award reinforces Trilogy’s ESG strategy in action – delivering social value through inclusive design, resilient infrastructure and environments that support wellbeing at scale.
Fitwel is a leading global certification system for healthy buildings, created by public health experts at the CDC and managed by the Centre for Active Design. It assesses how places support physical and mental wellbeing: from air quality and walkability to inclusivity, social infrastructure and access to green space.
With over 15,000 students, university staff, retail workers and local residents using the campus, this recognition feels especially relevant. It reflects our ongoing work to make wellbeing part of how this space functions day to day – not just in design, but in how people actually experience it.
Spanning 650,000 sq ft across four buildings, Republic brings together education, enterprise and community in one place. From lakeside green spaces and accessible facilities to inclusive programming and public realm designed for movement and connection, we’ve worked to support health at scale.
Fitwel strengthens our ESG strategy by helping us deliver on the social pillar – supporting mental and physical wellbeing, promoting inclusive, accessible design, and encouraging the kind of social infrastructure we prioritise at Republic. Shared spaces, breakout areas and design features that foster connection all contribute to a sense of community. Adopting Fitwel also sends a clear message to stakeholders that social and civic responsibility is embedded in how we operate.
In a 2024 campus-wide survey, over 700 students rated Republic’s student experience 4.6 out of 5 – a reflection of the environment we’ve worked to shape.
We’re grateful to our partners at Workman, especially Eleanor Newton (Partner) and Daryna Dziuba-Dubyna (Republic’s Assistant Facilities Manager), whose expertise helped shape this work.
In Eleanor's words:
“Healthy buildings are ultimately about people. This recognition reinforces the role places like Republic play in enabling wellbeing, inclusion and resilience.”
This kind of recognition aligns closely with our ESG and civic impact priorities – particularly around health equity, resilience and public value. This work is about shaping places where people can feel well, stay connected and get on with their lives, and we're happy to be a part of it.
